About Florida SEE

The origin of the Florida Society for Ethical Ecotourism begins after a local ecotourism workshop held in Fort Myers in 1998. At that conference, a number of participants suggested that a post-workshop group be formed to champion the existence of true ecotourism in Southwest Florida. It was immediately agreed upon by that founding group that our main existence would be "to establish and maintain a professional code of ecotourism ethics in order to encourage an awareness and stewardship of Florida's natural heritage."

Over the next 12 years, that group not only accomplished it's goal, but this non-profit educational organization is now completing its second revision of our Certification/Recognition Program. The organization is currently in a major growing stage due to state-wide interest in how we are organized and accomplish our mission as a voluntary, member driven entity. We welcome your interest and support of the expansion of our regional boundries to embrace all of Florida's ecotour providers and their supporters. Florida SEE members are the foundation for the growth of our organization and represent a unified and ethical voice for Florida's natural heritage.
