Join us for an engaging walk through the forces that shape Florida’s coastlines—from the mechanics of tides to the seasonality of our coastal weather patterns. After explaining the science of it all, we will show you how to access and read online tide, weather, and wave forecasts, and give practical tips for weaving that data into your own outings. Whether you’re a solo explorer or an eco-tourism guide, you’ll leave with the tools to plan safer, more memorable trips along Florida’s dynamic shoreline.
Presenter: Carolyn Kovacs is the Florida Sea Grant Extension Agent with the University of Florida IFAS Extension in Flagler and Volusia Counties. She holds a M.S. in marine science and has been teaching marine biology and ecology courses in both formal and informal settings since 2012.
