#sParkConnections During National Park Week!

Celebrate National Park Week 2022 with from April 16 to 24; entrance fees are waived on April 16 to kick things off!

This year's National Park Week theme is "sPark Connections". There are 11 national parks in Florida, and each day offers a new theme. Find interactive maps, tours of park places, on-the-ground accessibility information, and much more on the official NPS App.

Seasonal Manatee Zones

From April 1 through Nov. 15, seasonal manatee zones require boaters to slow down in certain areas to prevent manatees from being injured or killed by motorboats or personal watercrafts.
FWC law enforcement officers are on patrol in state waters to remind boaters of the seasonal manatee speed zones and take enforcement actions.

Let's Go Fishing! License-free April 2 and 3

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) invites Florida residents and visitors to go freshwater fishing during the two license-free days this weekend, April 2-3.

License-free freshwater fishing days provide an excellent opportunity for those new to fishing without needing to first purchase a license. On these days, the fishing license requirement is waived for all recreational anglers, including residents and non residents.

All other rules including seasons, bag and size limits still apply.

Florida Gopher Tortoise Day - April 10

April 10th was officially adopted by the Gopher Tortoise Council as Gopher Tortoise Day! In Florida, gopher tortoises are found in parts of all 67 counties and are frequently encountered in neighborhoods, along roadways, and in many of Florida’s public parks and forests.

Gopher tortoises are considered a keystone species because they dig burrows that provide shelter for 360 other species of wildlife, called “commensals.” If you would like to report any sightings of gopher tortoises, or their burrows, click here.
